These adjustments can be facilitated through changes in input variables such as speed, frequency, and volume. This type of sensor has many industrial and mechanical applications. A rotary position sensor lends well in applications including: robotics, measuring and testing equipment, medical equipment, and consumer electronics.

Intrinsically safe rotary position sensors

Intrinsically safe rotary sensors are used in applications subject to hazardous conditions. The principle of intrinsic safety is to ensure that all electrical equipment and wiring emits negligible amount of energy to prevent sparks, explosions, and fires. This technique was first designed in mines where explosions occur due to sparks emitted by equipment exposed to combustible vapour.

  • The x500 Large Angle Rotary Sensor has both ATEX and IECEx intrinsic safety accreditation with measures at an angle of ≥16°.
  • The x502 Small Angle Rotary Sensor has both ATEX an IECEx intrinsic safety accredication which measure at an angle of ≥15°
  • If you are looking for submersible rotary sensor, we have the x520 Submersible Large Angle Rotary Sensor with both ATEX an IECEx accredication. It is sealed for continued underwater use.

Angles of measurement

Rotary position sensors come in different specifications. Our range of sensors allow you to find the ideal product for the desired application by selecting specific parameters. You can choose a sensor according to measurement type, measurement range, type of hazardous environment, environmental sealing, and intrinsic safety requirement. With regards to angles of measurement, our miniature rotary sensors has a measuring range from ±15° to ±70°. On the other hand, slim-line rotary sensors can measure from a range of ±7.5° to ±80°. Large rotary sensors are meant to measure a range of angle from ±8° to ±80°. Similarly, our submersible position sensors have the same measuring range as that of the slim-line position sensor.
