Pressure Transducers for Industrial Applications

Pressure transducers are one of our newer product categories, they come from our sister company Variohm Eurosensor.

A pressure transduceris also sometimes called a pressure transmitter, it is a type of sensor which converts pressure into an electrical signal which can be processed.

Pressure transducers are used within many industries for a wide range of applications. They are often used for industrial applications as they have characteristics which make them strong and durable, this ensures they are not compromised by their surroundings and work well in demanding areas.

Characteristics of our Pressure Transducers for Industrial Applications

Our pressure transducers for industrial application have a robust design and a stainless steel enclosure making themsuited for all industries and able to withstand demanding applications.

Some of the other features we can offer are;

  • IP65 protection rating and up to IP69K
  • No internal o rings
  • Wide operating temperature range
  • High accuracy
  • Long term stability
  • Various connection options
  • Output options: analogue or digital
  • Vacuum, absolute or gauge pressure
  • SIL2 rated (see datasheets for full details)
  • ATEX Zone 0 and Zone 1 (see datasheets for full details)

Selecting a Pressure Transducer

When selecting a pressure transducer for industrial applications it is important to take into consideration the following; pressure range, accuracy, environment, working temperature range.

Pressure Range - our pressure transducers can measure up to 5000bar. When selecting a pressure transducer it is important to know the pressure range which requires measuring. Choosing a sensor with a range too wide for the application may result in inaccurate readings, choosing one with a range too small would damage the sensor and not give the correct results.

Accuracy - the desired accuracy levels will depend on the application. If the application requires a high level of accuracy then choosing a pressure transducer with an accuracy of +/-0.1%would be recommended.

Environment - is the sensor going to be subjected to moisture, dust or dirt? Does the application leave the sensor exposed to shock or vibration? These all need to be taken into consideration when selecting a pressure transducer. Check that the sensor has the require IP rating and is able to function under such conditions.

Operating Temperature Range - pressure transducers all have an operating temperature range, if the temperature of the application exceeds the operating temperature range of the pressure transducer the readings will not be accurate. Check the operating temperature range on the datasheet.

Industrial Applications which use Pressure Transducers

Pressure transducers are often used in the following industrial applications;

  • Hydraulics
  • Automation
  • Power stations
  • HVAC
  • Materials Testing
  • Compressors
  • Utilities
  • Agriculture
