PIPS® technology combines the best
in fundamental inductive principles with advanced micro electronic
integrated circuit technology. The transducers are non-contact and
therefore, unlike a potentiometer, the sensing element does not wear
out. They have major advantages over LVDTs and other similar non-contact
sensors. They are more compact, more accurate, robust and, with fully
integrated electronics, are easier to use. The technology can be applied
to linear and rotary motion sensing.
The micro electronic interface, which produces the output
signal, is combined into a single custom ASIC with the minimum
of additional surface mount components. The interface, which
has a high level of EMC protection built in, needs a DC supply
and a range of analogue electrical I/O options are available
to suit customer requirements.
We are constantly increasing our product range and the capabilities
of the technology. For example, new developments include micro
sensors and large angle sensors.
