What is a Pressure Transducer?

A pressure transducer is a type of sensor which is used to measure the amount of pressure in gases and liquids and give an accurate real-time reading.

Pressure transducers are one of the new additions to our product range here at Positek. They can be used for many different applications and are typically used in practically all industries as they are so diverse.

Pressure transducers are generally made of stainless steel and are hermetically sealed giving them an IP rating of IP67. This allows them to function in wet and dusty environments.

Unlike pressure switches, pressure transducers can give accurate readings on actual system pressure making them well suited to complex applications where there is a need to monitor exact pressure.

Features of Pressure Transducers

Our pressure transducers come from our sister company Variohm Eurosensor, they have a robust modular design with a stainless steel housing and a welded housing to the pressure port. They come in a range of sizes to suit various applications, the smallest being just 12mm in diameter.

Specifications include;

  • Wide operating temperatures (most from -40 to 125°C)
  • Different pressure options; vacuum, absolute and gauge
  • Measuring range up to 5000 bar
  • High accuracy
  • Long term stability
  • Different output options; analogue or digital
  • Electrical connection options
  • Different process connection options

These pressure transducers have a range of customisable options to ensure the sensor is best suited to the application in hand.

How Does a Pressure Sensor Work?

A pressure transducer measures the force applied to the internal diaphragm through the pressure port. The pressure is converted into a digital format to be processed.
